Ahhhhhh the joys of old things.
I recently decided to keep my auto lenses on the shelf and force myself to walk around with strictly vintage lenses. Currently I’ve been switching between the Nikkor 55 1.2 and the Nikkor 105 2.5. The purpose has been to find a way to slow myself down while exploring the streets but also allow myself a certain level of post production creativity.
What I’ve found most interesting is the specific color and contrast signatures of these old lenses. Straight out of camera JPEGs have such a unique quality that I find myself wanting to use them more and more, even for fast paced shoots like cooking or live shows. Those definitely pose more of a challenge but I find that missing focus by a bit actually gives the images a bit more authenticity and interesting looks.
